Welcome to my blog! Post #1

I am happy you stopped by.  I’m an artist, retired Marriage and Family Therapist, wife, stepparent and grandmother. This is my first post and like a lot of people before me I have had an idea to write a blog about my quilting and artistic journey forever.  Somehow it hasn’t happened until today.  I recently saw a quote that galvanized me into action.
A year from now you
will wish you had started today!

My quilting/art studio is really an extra room, a very small room, in our house.  It gives me just enough space to do all the things I want to do (almost).  Luckily our weather is fairly mild much of the year and my garage and living room are often spill over spots for larger projects.  My husband is very understanding and doesn’t seem to mind my art projects sometimes taking over the house. My cat, Heather, is always available to test out a new quilt with a quick nap on or off of the sewing machine.
Heather napping!
I manage to fit a lot into my small room.  In this corner I work on my Free Motion Quilting projects.

I love my Sixteen!
I cleaned this up a bit for the photo :)
When thinking about a name for my blog I kept saying, ‘Wait I have an idea I can try this.  Or wait, I have another idea.”  It hit me that those words “I Have An Idea” are where the spark of imagination starts. We need an idea, a spark to ignite our creativity and then we can build a big fire!   My intention is for this blog to be a spot where we can talk about creating interesting things and share our struggles, failures and successes.   As a retired Marriage and Family Counselor you can imagine that I enjoy talking about feelings.

I see my life as a tapestry with many threads crisscrossing to create my image.  My arts, crafts, drawing and quilting are all threads, my family life and work more threads.  Eventually all the various threads tie together to create my unique life.  We are all beautiful tapestries, none quite the same.

I want to encourage you to create and share your life and creativity here with me.  Hope you feel inspired to leave a comment or start a discussion or ask any questions you may have.

Keep creating...
